Machined Plastic Products

Why Machining Instead of Molding?

Low volumes (including prototypes) are very often machined more cost-effectively versus molding
Some parts are difficult or even impossible to mold because of physical shape of the part (heavy walls, intricate undercuts with multiple angles, certain thread patterns, etc
Materials can be utilized in the machining process that are difficult or impractical to mold
High initial tooling costs required in the molding process (mold costs)
Machined parts can be produced with lower residual component stresses and more consistent properties throughout the produced part
Machining can provide closer tolerances
Design engineers have much more flexibility when designing parts
Design engineers can easily make changes during the design process by utilizing prototype and testing procedures
Machined parts can be produced faster with reduced turn-around times
No draft angles are required for machined parts
Machined parts will not have some of the undesirable attributes of molded parts   (gate scars, weld lines, parting lines, ejector marks, flash or "skin" effects, etc.)
